El País de las Aves” is a documentary showcasing the scientific expeditions carried out in Colombia by a team of national researchers in collaboration with international partners. Through these explorations, the film combines historical and current data to analyze the diversity, population genetics, and conservation status of Colombia’s birdlife over the past 110 years. As part of the initiative “BIO Expeditions Wings, Songs, and Colors,” this production highlights Colombia’s status as the country with the greatest bird diversity in the world, with over 1,999 recorded species. It also emphasizes the importance of collaborative science, gender equity, and the active participation of local communities in knowledge-building and environmental conservation. “El País de las Aves” invites viewers to reflect deeply on biodiversity and the commitment of scientists and communities to preserving this valuable natural heritage.
